According to Violet: They are absolutely BEAUTIFUL colors with strong color payoff. They come in a little compact that is like the brow shader, and you get more of the lighter color than the darker color. How awesome is that!! The pearlglide liners are TO DIE FOR!! They are so beautiful. They are long wearing, water resistant, smudge resistant and have a transparent sparkle. (No chunky glitter!)

Erine on the liners: These are very soft, like power points. they are safe for contact lens wearers, and CANNOT be used on the waterline.

BunnyBunnyBunny said:The finish of the eyeshadows are awesome. Think velvety texture with the flashiness of Black Tied but with more of a particle pearl than a glitter pearl… that actually shows up on your eyes!!

And the Pearlglides are super creamy and also water resistant. The Pearlglide pencils have an overtly “Glitterly sparkle” to them. It has visible, more obvious glitter particles in it (though not chunky as say, the Softsparkle Pencils’s glitter effect). The base formula to the Pearlglides actually are a bit metallic already, so the final result is a dramatic liner. Not exactly the usual day wear kind of liner. Catches the light and reflects alot more.

What say y’all!? I’m really liking the color combos, but am not 100% sold on the MES trio idea. Thoughts?

I’m really loving Starflash. Even though I keep calling it Starfish.

I do, I keep calling it Starfish for some reason, and I KNOW that can’t be what Marketing at MAC HQ was counting on. Sorry guys. My mouth gets away from me sometimes. :o

I love the payoff for the Starflash shadows. They blend impeccably and are super smooth. If you’re behind and haven’t picked any up yet, you should definitely check the collection out.

This time of year…

My brother got promoted this past Monday. My family went to the ceremony. This is completely unrelated to everything else, but I wanted to acknowledge my little brother’s hard work and accomplishment in making SFC.

Despite being one of the most miserably hot times of year, I like being outside and doing stuff, but really, August makes me sad.  Once September starts and the days start getting shorter (slowly but surely) and cooler (heh. Not really, not til November here in TX, but…) it just feels like a little…death…to me.  I somewhat mourn the loss of my summertime.

It’s silly, I know, but there it is, another one of my neuroses.

I try to keep in mind some of the better aspects of fall and winter in Texas…like I can start wearing hoodies again, while wearing shorts or I can wear flipflops almost year round or I don’t really have to wear tights or hose if I don’t want to…or I can start wearing deeper shades of makeup and more dramatic liner without it sludging down my cheekbones.  See? I can find the bright side!

What do you look forward to in the fall season? Cooler weather? Dramatic makeup? Those supercute outfits where you can wear the little jacket with a shirt and skirt with tights and boots and not look completely ridiculous because the sun’s out and you’re forsaking comfort for fashion?

I think having that little part of the beauty world to anticipate really gets me over the hump, and kind of keeps my mind off the fact that my days of sitting by the pool for the year are diminishing rapidly.  What about you?

Last night I had a softball game at 640 p.m. At 1840 yesterday, it was still 100+ outside, and the field temp was 106. I drank, in the space of the 55 (actually closer to 65) minute game, over a gallon of water. And three 16 oz bottles. Everything I drank came pouring right back out rather quickly, and by the time I left the game (we lost, my performance was abysmal, I’ll make a great long jumper someday, and some men have no manners) I had a serious case of swamp ass. My hair was soaked, my socks were soaked, and there were salt lines in my shoes.

I can’t stress this enough to anyone playing sports or doing ANYTHING active outside right now…DRINK WATER. Stay hydrated. If you feel thirsty, you’re already mildly dehydrated.

When you drink water, your skin is smoother, your eyes clearer, your breath smells better (truth! Dry mouth makes your breath stink!), and your hair is shinier. Imagine your body as a flower, out in the sun…then imagine how the leaves start wilting and the flowers start drooping if that flower isn’t watered. Your body does the same thing, wilts and droops.

It’s August, the best of the heat for the year is yet to come. Drink up, avoid the sugary ’sports drinks’, and watch out for signs of heat stroke!
